Voragem, segundo o Houaiss, é “tudo aquilo que é capaz de tragar, sorver, destruir com violência”. O livro de Junichiro Tanizaki , publicado em 1931, é uma ode à força destrutiva do amor, e conta a história do relacionamento de Sonoko e Mitsuko, pela narrativa de Sonoko, em uma sociedade oriental, explicando um pouco sobre como o papel da mulher nessa sociedade e suas limitações. Possui uma dramaticidade exarcebada nas falas e atitudes dos personagens, que não é comum na literatura ocidental.
Amei o livro, mas ele me deixou frustrada de varias formas!
Frustrada por não ter uma explicação mais detalhada do final, por não se aprofundar na motivação dos personagens, por não conseguir decifrar a psicologia dos mesmos. Enfim, ficaram muitas perguntas !
O que aconteceu com Watanaki? Como foi a vida de Sonoko após o desenrolar dos fatos? Porque a Mitsuko agiu da forma que agiu?

The Book of Junichiro Tanizaki, published in 1931, is an ode to the destructive force of love, and tells the story of the relationship of Sonoko and Mitsuko, by the narrative of Sonoko, in an Oriental society, explaining a little about how the role of women in this society and their Limitations. It has an exarched dramaticity in the speeches and attitudes of the characters, which is not common in Western literature.
I loved the book, but it made me frustrated in many ways!
Frustrated by not having a more detailed explanation of the end, for not deepening in the motivation of the characters, for failing to decipher the psychology of them. Anyway, there were too many questions!
What happened to Watanaki? How was Sonoko's life after the events unfold? Why did Mitsuko act the way she acted?
